So anyone who is reading right now probably knows about the holiday kiosk that I'm baking for. I mean, I have posted about it for, well...forever. Today was day one. Day one of the rest of my life and it didn't go quite as planned. I tell you what, it was like amateur hour in the kitchen this morning.
It was so strange being in a new kitchen. Strange to use a different oven, stove top, even sink. It was all strange and jarring. I've never used a gas stove to cook with. My medium heat at home is not the same as the "medium heat" of the gas stove. When made at home, my chocolate cupcakes take 14 minutes, at the certified kitchen they take 25. Everything is different and its throwing me off.
I'm keeping a positive attitude about it though. I was all alone in the kitchen this morning, so no one saw me accidentally scramble the eggs in my german chocolate filling. I was able to redo it (with the appropriate amount of heat) and it turned out just fine. I'll get into a routine, just like at home, and it'll be great.
